I simply adore my chickens.
I even adore the mess they leave on the path, on the deck, on the ground, on the bench, and on anything else they can find (sometimes even the garden).
They are such a delight to care for. If I knew just how wonderful chickens could be I would have had them long ago.
We need to make hen boxes today so that they can start laying eggs. I wonder how old they start laying at? Ours are 9 weeks old now.

If memory serves me right, I think the ones we had started laying eggs at about 20 or 21 weeks, but it's been many many years, so I'm really not sure (and I guess it can vary depending on a variety of factors). Well, that doesn't sound very helpful, now, does it? :)
